Here’s a new book review. I have been slightly slacking on reading my books but I’ll try my best to catch up. 🙂

Rune is an aspiring filmmaker with more ambition than political savvy, paying her dues as an assistant camera person for the local news. But she’s got her eyes on the prize, the network’s hot news magazine, Current Events — and she’s got the story she knows will get her there.
Poking around in the video archives, Rune spots a taped interview with Randy Boggs, who’s doing hard time in Harrison Men’s Correctional Facility for a murder he claims he didn’t commit. Rune can’t say exactly why, but she’s sure he’s innocent. If she can prove it, Current Events won’t merely report the news, it’ll make news — and Rune’s career.
But what she could be writing is Randy Boggs’s epitaph — and her own. Rune’s newly discovered witness soon turns up dead. A hit man from Miami is on Rune’s trail, and Boggs is finding prison even more dangerous than before. Someone wants this story killed, and it could be the girl with the camera who ends up on the cutting room floor.
So Hard News is the 3rd book to the Rune series and I’m just ridiculously laughing when I gave my review on Goodreads for this book because I learned that I read the last book of the series without even knowing it was part of a series! 😀 This is the third time that this happened to me. HAHAHA. But I don’t mind, I think I perfectly understood it without reading the other books.
Anyways, Hard News is pretty good, I think. I like Rune, the main character. There are times that she frustrates me because of how she acts and carries herself around but also, I like her dedication to her work and really holding up to what her guts tell her. I can slightly relate to her character because when I was in grade school, I really want to be a journalist, an investigative journalist, so reading through Rune’s story is really exciting for me. She’s determined to bring a story to the News that can possibly prove a convicted murderer his innocence. This story tell us that however hard it is to achieve your dream or goals, you just have to trust yourself and go for it even though the risks are high.
It’s really fun and thrilling to find out the truth behind the murderer and I must admit I didn’t guess who the true killer was. It was a roller coaster. Deaver deceives you in making you think this person is our guy, but then boom, nope, you’re wrong! You have to get to hold with the story to be able to catch up on what’s going on.
I do really enjoy the vibe of this story so I recommend it if you like reading mysteries or investigative stories. 🙂
